School Lunch and Breakfast Program

The Cafeteria staff provides nourishing, well-balanced meals for students, visitors, and staff.  While students are encouraged to eat the lunches provided at school, they may bring a lunch from home.

The School Food Service determines meal prices in the summer based on budgetary demands.  Prices are approved by the Kershaw County School Board.

Full Price                                         Reduced Price                          Adult Price

Breakfast      $1.00                                    $0.30                                $2.60

Lunch           $2.00                                    $0.40                                $4.10

Breakfast is served from 7:05 a.m. until 7:40 a.m.

Kershaw County Schools will participate in a school choice serving line.  Elementary students will be offered at least two entrée choices at lunch.   One choice is a traditional lunch, and the second choice is a Fresh Express option which consists of a lower fat entrée.

A student may pay in advance for school meals and that amount is placed on his/her lunch account.  Parents may pay online for meals at MySchoolBucks.com. Students may also pay by the day as they go through the line.  Free and reduced meals benefits are available as outlined by the National School Lunch Program.  Applications are available online. Online applications can be submitted from any computer with internet access.  Simply go to http://www.kcsdschools.net/meals  and click on the Online Applications link under Free and Reduced Meal Information.  That link will redirect you to a secure site called SchoolLunchApp.com.  Follow the instructions on the side to complete the application process.  New applications are available beginning July 1st of each year. A new application must be submitted at the beginning of every school year.  Please remember that applications can be submitted at any time during the year if circumstances in the household change.  Meal benefits cover both breakfast and lunch.

The cafeteria provides many opportunities to learn and practice social skills and good manners.  At lunch, students may speak with one another in acceptable, conversational tones.

Parents and grandparents are invited to join a student for lunch, but are requested, when possible, to give at least 24 hours notice to the cafeteria so as to prepare the correct quantity of meals.
