About Us
Meet our Administrators

Mrs. Melinda Johnson
I am a proud native of Camden, South Carolina, and have fond memories of attending Jackson School as a child. It is truly a full-circle moment to now serve as the principal of the school that helped shape my own educational journey.
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from South Carolina State University and a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from Southern Wesleyan University.
This year, I am entering my 21st year in education. Throughout my career, I have served as a third-grade teacher, fifth-grade teacher, Title I Math Interventionist, Title I Curriculum Facilitator, and Primary Talent Development Coach. My educational journey has provided opportunities to serve students and families across the East Coast, including Charleston County School District and Dorchester School District Two in South Carolina, Prince William County Schools in Woodbridge, Virginia, and Montgomery County Public Schools in Silver Spring, Maryland.
After returning home to Camden, I had the privilege of serving as assistant principal at Doby's Mill Elementary School for three years. I am now beginning my third year as principal of Jackson School, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to partner with our outstanding students, staff, and families. It is an honor to lead the next generation of Jackson leaders while building upon our school's tradition of excellence through the Leader in Me framework.
I am a member of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators and have completed the Center for Executive Education Leadership (CEEL) Assistant Principal Foundations Workshop and the CEEL Aspiring Principals Program. I also hold the South Carolina Read to Succeed Endorsement.
I look forward to collaborating with our entire Jackson family as we continue to inspire leadership, foster academic excellence, and ensure every child reaches their fullest potential. Together, we will continue getting #BetterEveryDay!
Fun Facts About Me
I live in Camden with my husband, our two children, Kaelyn and Gavin, and our Rhodesian Ridgeback, Zeke. Our family loves cheering on the Carolina Panthers each season, and I am also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
